Marta Reuter

I have a Ph.D. in Political Science from Humbolt University Berlin (2007). Apart from being affiliated with the SCCSS, I work as Associate Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University. My research interests revolve around civil society organizations (CSOs) as political actors, in Sweden and in the transnational context. I am also interested in issues related to CSOs and governance (organizational and societal), and the relationship between the different organizational spheres in society, particularly civil society and the state.

My current and recent research projects focus on:

(a) think tanks as new organizational actors in civil society (grant from the Ragnar S枚derberg Foundation in 2015)

(b) audit practices in the field of elderly care in Sweden (grant from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond in 2014)

(c) the chain of governance in welfare service producing CSOs (grant from the Swedish Agency for Youth and Civil Society in 2014)

(d) transnationalization and the Swedish popular movements (grant from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond in 2009).

My other academic commitments include, among others, acting as:

  • Co-convenor of the EGOS Standing Group on Organizing in and Through Civil Society (2019-2022)
  • Member of the editorial board of the international journal Nonprofit Policy Forum (NPF)
  • Reviewer for Voluntas and for NPF
  • Member of the scientific council of the Ideell Arena think tank
  • Co-convenor (together with Stefan Einarsson) of the standing research seminar on organized civil society at the SCCSS
  • Frequent speaker and lecturer in executive education programs aimed at civil society elected officials and public sector executives.
